Sten Lennquist has retired after 40 years as active surgeon, final position as Professor and Chairman at the University Hospital, Linköping. Sweden. Parallel to his work as surgeon, he has on humanitarian base worked with disaster medicine, a field where he is still fully active, leading an international project on training of medical staff in management of major incidents and disasters with focus on the consequences of global terrorism. He has received several international rewards and is honorary member in nine international scientific societies, in several of them active as president or secretary general. His work within disaster medicine includes several educational commitments from the Swedish Board of Health and Welfare, the European Union, World Health Organization (WHO) and several different countries.
